Sorbent Sweep and Pom Poms
Oil Only Critical Response and Spill Clean Up
The
following products will help compliance with 29 CFR 1910.120(j)(1), 40 CFR 112.7(C)(1),
40 CFR 263.30(a), and 40 CFR 263.31.
Critical Spill Clean Up and Response products are items that are used in the response and clean up of a spill that has been contained and the need of critical application items is needed to clean up the spill off the water. Spaghetti boom, Sweep, Snare and Pom Poms all serve a specific task depending on the environmental conditions and grade of hydrocarbons.
Below are the specialty items that are used for spills, and are they are now finding there way into main stream maintenance programs.
Spaghetti Boom
Spaghetti Boom allows thick oils to penetrate deeply into the water by allowing greater flow through the material to allow thick oil to penetrate deeply into the boom. Their mesh net and spaghetti strip filler are specially designed to contain and attract thick oils.
Spaghetti Boom are normally used in fast currents and cold waters. The cold thickens oil and the open net on the Global Sorbent Products allows oil to penetrate deeply and quickly capture the oil.

SWEEP
Sweep is manufactured with durability in mind. A melt blown polypropylene folded bale with an end to end woven polypropylene reinforcing strap, makes for ease of use on the job site. The polypropylene is also sewn on the outside edges for extra strength.
Two straps extend from the 100' expanse of material to allow responders to ―sweep‖ the surface of the water or anchor it to a boom to catch oil in fast currents.

Pom Pom and Snares
Pom Pom and Snare are generally used close to the shore line to clean up heavy and viscous hydrocarbons. Snares are used off the shore or on smooth shore lines while Pom Poms are used around rocky areas or where snare might otherwise snag. Pom Poms and Snares both come on a 50 foot rope containing 30 Pom Pom or 30 Snare with one line per bail.
They both also come without the rope packaged 30 each per bail for the hand applications to clean up beaches and water separation tanks.
